Nokia N8: The First Open Source Symbian Smartphone

Nokia announced its N8, the first smartphone to use open-source Symbian 3 operating system in which Symbian 3 is the first release of the Symbian Operating system, on Tuesday. This smartphone is going to be released in the UK in the third quarter of 2010 and is priced at €370 (£321) before taxes and subsidies.

Google Offers New Model for Consumers to Buy a Mobile Phone

Well, it’s here (well, in the US anyhow!). The Google Nexus One, which combines the latest in hardware from HTC Corporation with the newest Android software, is available to purchase through a web store hosted by Google.

I wonder how much it is linked into their services. I see lot’s of Google brands on the home page, GMail, Maps, YouTube etc. They’ll have to go some to complete with the iPhone App Library. Interesting to see what the take up if like.

Plastic Logic e-reader aims to challenge Kindle

UK firm Plastic Logic has launched its Que e-reader in a bid to challenge the dominance of Amazon’s Kindle.

It came out of some work at the University of Cambridge and is aimed at the business reader who needs to carry documents around with them. Looks nice and slim!
