LFEPA – the body that runs the London Fire Brigade – has chosen and implemented the Koha library management system. PTFS Europe has provided a full range of implementation services, including the successful migration from the legacy system, and will provide on-going hosting and support services.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application for staff and end-users.  The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue (OPAC) offers excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services.  Koha’s depth of functionality continues to develop meeting the changing needs of libraries and their users.
The London Fire Brigade is England’s busiest fire and rescue service, serving the capital’s residents as well as those who work in and visit the city.

Andrew Mobbs, from Business Intelligence at the London Fire Brigade said:  “Koha offers us a cost-effective solution for our library which meets our business requirements. Koha’s open source development gives us access to a large community of Library professionals at a fraction of the cost of bespoke systems. PTFS Europe have proven to be excellent partners who have supported us through the transition to the new system and provide us with excellent support.”

Nick Dimant, Managing Director at PTFS Europe added “We are delighted that the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority has chosen the Koha system and we welcome them as new customers.  They will be joining our well established base of customers from all library sectors in the UK hosted and supported by PTFS Europe.”
