Nottingham College chooses the Koha open source library management system, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe.
London, 16th April 2018

Nottingham College has chosen Koha as its new library management system to replace the existing solutions from OCLC and IS Oxford. The team at PTFS Europe will be implementing Koha and providing on-going hosting and support services. The public interface will be integrated with the EDS discovery service from EBSCO and the interface further enhanced to provide high levels of accessibility.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing staff and public users with access to the system through web browsers. The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue (OPAC) offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to develop meeting the changing needs of libraries and their users.

Jane Parker, Nottingham College Library Manager, said:

“We chose Koha because the system offers exactly what we want for our end-users and Library staff administrators. Integration with existing College systems increases staff efficiency and the user-friendly interface means the product is attractive to students and staff.”

Nottingham College is one of the largest Colleges in the UK. It caters for approximately 40,000 students, has more than 1,500 staff members, and works with around 6,000 local, regional and national employers. The College offers part-time and full-time courses in a variety of curriculum areas – from Level 1, right through to degree-level study.

Nick Phipps, Sales Director at PTFS Europe stated

“We are delighted that Nottingham College has chosen Koha and we welcome them as new customers. They will be joining our diverse and growing base of Koha customers from across the UK and Europe who are hosted and supported by PTFS Europe.”
