Cumbria County Council goes live with the Koha open source library management system, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe

Earlier this year, Cumbria County Council selected Koha for its new library management system, replacing a previous SirsiDynix solution. PTFS Europe has provided a comprehensive range of implementation and support services and the Council is pleased to announce that the system is now live. The Council looks forward to delivering an improved service to its customers and the library service particularly values the capabilities and efficiencies offered by the new open source solution.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing staff and public users with access to the system through web browsers. The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue (OPAC) offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to develop to meet the changing needs of libraries and their users.

We are excited by the possibilities offered by the new library management system and look forward to taking advantage of the flexibility, functionality and integration opportunities available with Koha.
