Knowsley Council has chosen the Koha library management system together with the WordPress content management system to replace their existing SirsiDynix solution. PTFS Europe will carry out the initial implementation and provide on-going hosting and support services.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing staff with access to the system through web browsers.  The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. Koha integrates easily with other applications such as finance systems delivering efficiency and time saving. The Koha online catalogue (OPAC) offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to evolve and expand to meet the changing needs of libraries and their users.

WordPress

The WordPress content management system will allow Knowsley libraries to manage its entire web presence with the library creating and managing its own themes or using templates provided by PTFS Europe. A wide range of content including the library catalogue, events, calendars, bookings and local information can be presented to the end user in an attractive and easy to navigate format.

Nicola Long, Senior Librarian: Digital Inclusion said: “We are really excited to be working with PTFS-Europe to develop a new Library management system for Knowsley. Koha is an open source system that will not only give us greater efficiency and flexibility but will allow us to continue to develop a contemporary library service for our customers”

Nick Dimant, Managing Director at PTFS Europe added “We are delighted that Knowsley Council has chosen Koha. Knowsley will be joining our growing range of customers in the north west of England and demonstrating the benefits of moving to the range of solutions that we support.”
