Ravensbourne University London are now live with their new Koha open source library management system

Ravensbourne University London selected the Koha library management system, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe, to replace an existing SirsiDynix Symphony solution, in August 2020. We are pleased to announce that the Koha system is now live and now supporting the university’s library users. Koha was selected to provide improvements in managing the library’s collections and deliver a better experience for the University’s students.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing staff and public users with access to the system through web browsers. The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue (OPAC) offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services.

Ravensbourne selected Koha as a cost-effective, web-based replacement for our previous LMS. Koha has an appealing intuitive user-friendly design and allows our users to search the library’s physical and online collections from the same interface.
We are very grateful for PTFS Europe’s help, support and continued good humour through the process of transitioning to Koha. We experienced no delays or issues, despite the global pandemic! Koha has allowed us to improve our Library workflows, becoming more efficient and saving staff time and has been well received by staff and students.
