The Society of Antiquaries of London chooses Koha open source library management system, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe

The Society of Antiquaries of London has chosen Koha as its new library management system to replace the previous Voyager solution.  PTFS Europe is implementing the new system and will provide on-going hosting and support services.  Koha will be integrated with the EDS discovery service, from EBSCO.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is an entirely web-based application providing staff and public users with access to the system through web browsers.  The staff modules are acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials, and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to develop to meet the changing needs of libraries and their users.

Koha will transform the way users access our collections. We also look forward to introducing fully automated circulation and managing our subscriptions with the serials module.

The Society of Antiquaries (founded in 1707) is Britain’s oldest learned society concerned with the study of the material remains of the past. It is home to the largest antiquarian library in the country, with an outstanding collection of more than 130,000 books dating from the fifteenth century to the present day, monograph series, and approximately 3,000 current and historic journal titles. The subject coverage is British and European archaeology, architectural history, art history and the decorative arts (especially medieval), the historic environment, and British local history.
