The University of Hertfordshire has chosen the Koha open source library management system to replace its existing library management system. PTFS Europe will fully implement the Koha system and provide on-going hosting and support services. The project also involves a tight integration with the University’s new discovery platform.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application for both staff and public access. The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. Koha integrates easily with other applications such as finance, student management and online payment systems. The Koha online catalogue offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to evolve and expand to meet the changing needs of libraries and their users.

University of Hertfordshire

With over 25,000 students, the university is the UK’s leading business-facing university and an exemplar in the sector. It is innovative and enterprising and challenges individuals and organisations to excel.
David Peacock, ‎Manager of the Information Collections & Services Team at the University of Hertfordshire said: “We feel this solution will allow us to fully realise the cost benefits and flexibility of using Open Source Technology, and assist us in providing the highest quality library service to our students and staff.”
Nick Dimant, Managing Director at PTFS Europe added “We are delighted that the University of Hertfordshire has chosen Koha and welcome them as new customers. Koha offers a real, cost-effective alternative when looking at the other systems that are currently on the market.”
