Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust implements Koha open source library management system, hosted and supported by PTFS Europe.

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust goes live with Koha as its new library management system to replace the previous SirsiDynix Symphony solution. PTFS Europe is implementing the new system and will provide on-going hosting and support services.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing staff and public users with access to the system through web browsers. The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials, and comprehensive reporting functionality. The Koha online catalogue offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to develop to meet the changing needs of libraries and their users.

Koha provides us with a cost-effective solution and, being open source, allows for greater flexibility and access to system developments from around the world. PTFS Europe have been incredibly helpful in taking us through the implementation process, never making me feel that I was asking a stupid question and working patiently to accommodate our requirements.

Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust delivers many of the NHS services people in the county receive in the community at home, work or in schools. NHFT offers more than 100 services including mental health, community nursing, sexual health, physiotherapy, and a range of other specialty services. The Trust also works in partnership across the county to deliver care together in an integrated way. The Library Service, based on 3 sites, is available to all NHFT staff and students on placement in the Trust. NHFT also provides the Library Service for Northampton General Hospital and Northamptonshire Public Health.
