The Royal Asiatic Society selected the Koha library management solution to replace their existing system during Autumn 2018.  We are pleased to announce that the Society has successfully gone live with their new Koha system.  PTFS Europe carried out the initial implementation and now provides on-going hosting and support services.

Koha Library Management System

The Koha library management system is a completely web-based application providing staff with access to the system through web browsers.  The system comprises core modules: acquisitions with EDI, circulation, cataloguing, serials and comprehensive reporting functionality. Koha is an open source system which integrates easily with other applications delivering efficiency and time saving. The Koha online catalogue (OPAC) offers end users excellent search capabilities together with a full range of personalisation services. Koha’s depth of functionality continues to evolve and expand to meet the changing needs of libraries and their users.

Jonathan Field, Managing Director at PTFS Europe said

“We are delighted that the Royal Asiatic Society selected Koha and are very pleased to welcome them to our growing customer base.”

Edward Weech, the Librarian at the Society, commented

“We are very pleased to have successfully completed our catalogue migration to Koha, and look forward to working with PTFS to increase the discoverability of the Society’s collections – an invaluable resource for the study of Asian histories and cultures. Following the launch of the Society’s Digital Library in 2018, our online catalogue continues to be the first port of call for anyone interested in doing research at the Society. ”
